In 2020 Parma will be the Italian Capital of Culture.
What's better than discover the historical center of the city and castles in the surroundings through the eyes of duchess Maria Luigia, second wife of Napoleon, who ruled Parma for 30 years starting from 1816.
The tour is mainly designed for a group of women who love art, history and love affairs but also men can be interested in the fascinating story of this beloved duchess while they discover Parma culture and gastronomy.
This full day tour is available from Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia and Parma.
Below is the itinerary from Bologna:
Pick up from your hotel/apartment in Bologna city center at about 9:00 a.m.
Arrival in a village near Parma called Colorno at about 10:30 a.m. and visit of the Palace where Maria Luigia arrived in 1816. Guided tour of the castle and beautiful French garden recently reopened.
Stop for lunch in a place producing typical Culatello ham, a protected designation of origin product of the area.
At about 2:30 p.m. we will start the visit of Parma City center remembering Maria Luigia and her 30 incredible years in this city. We will visit her house and we will talk about her love for music, art and beauty.
Back to Bologna in the late afternoon.
