Wine and balsamic tour in the area of Modena.

Modena and its Province are synonymous of good food, typical wines, traditional balsamic vinegar and incredible restaurants like Osteria Francescana of the famous chef Massimo Bottura.

This new tour is focused on Emilia Romagna typical food, local wineries and balsamic.

Are you ready to understand how famous "naturally sparkling" Lambrusco wine is made by means of natural fermentation in a bottle or how a "still red" wine aged in oak barrels is created?

The following special tour is dedicated to food and wine lovers:

  • Pick up from Bologna or Modena in the morning and a quick stop in a village called Vignola for a typical Italian breakfast.

  • Later on, we will stop for a couple of hours in a famous winery near Spilamberto where a guided tour of vineyards will be given by the owner. We will walk up to the top of a tower from which we could have a suggestive view of the hills and the whole Modena area. Have a look at the cellar and "acetaia" where the traditional balsamic vinegar rests. We will eat appetizers, drink Lambrusco and white wines of "Colli Bolognesi" and taste traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena.

  • The tour will go on with the visit of an organic winery on the foothills of the Apennine mountains (vineyards are at about 500 meters) producing wines with the ancestral method without addition of any other substances even if allowed for oenological use. The tour will include a walk throughout the vineyards (if weather is good) and inside the factory where production, bottling and stocking take place. The tasting at the end will include a typical bread of the area called "tigella" or "crescentina" plus 3 different kinds of wine.

  • On the way back we will stop at a nice little village surrounded by vineyards called Castelvetro of Modena to take some pictures from its well-known panoramic "piazza" famous for a checker-board in the centre.

  • To end up the day we will stop at another artisan winery in order to sip the famous Lambrusco "Grasparossa di Castelvetro Pdo".

  • Marco, the owner, will welcome us in his wonderful location and his wife will prepare for us a typical Italian "merenda" served with different kinds of Lambrusco wine.

  • Back to Bologna or Modena in the late afternoon after an unforgettable day in the area of Modena.
